WALTIC
THE STORY BEHIND THE PROJECT

160000 PLASTIC BAGS ARE PRODUCED EVERY SECOND AND JUST 1% IS RECYCLED
Because it depends on every city recycling infrastructure whether they do something or not, most of the recycling companies around the world don’t recycle them because it’s not profitable.
100000 MARINE ANIMALS DIE EVERY YEAR BECAUSE OF PLASTIC POLLUTION
UNESCO has calculated that 100.000 marine animals die every year because of plastic pollution. And recently there is a study saying: “People around the world are consuming about 5 grams of micro plastic a week, according to a new research from the University of Newcastle, Australia commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund”.
BY 2050 WILL BE MORE PLASTIC THAN FISH IN THE OCEAN
The plastic bag is one of the most harmful plastic objects we have today. It produces more microplastics than other objects due to the low material density. Because they’re invisible to marine life’s eyes, they can get choked or trapped into it.

We’ve learned how to recycle from Precious Plastic
An open-source project that aims to empower people to create recycling units around the world. So we created a few machines, improved them, and created processes in order to turn plastic bags into something meaningful.

This how we do it
- We retrieve plastic bags from polluted rivers in Argentina with the help of our local partner: Voluntad Verde
- We work in our lab placed in Córdoba (Argentina), crafting the essential components of the watch, giving jobs and education to people in sustainable development
- We deliver our creations worldwide
- We plant trees to balance our footprint
WE PLANT TREES TO BALANCE OUR CARBON EMISSION
We are aware of the carbon footprint we generate by taking our items to other countries, that’s why we’ve decided to partner up with a non-profit called “One tree planted” to help them plant trees in Brazil, one of the most affected areas in the last 2 years.
Due to the economic crisis that South America is facing, there are no funds to invest in this kind of projects, the national programs aimed to promote sustainable projects are stuck and is too risky for private investors. Also, the government wouldn’t help me, right now the Brazilian and Argentinian government are implicated in burning part of the Amazona rainforest to produce cow meat and even develop real state projects, so I got to think something else.
